$Id: README,v 1.1 2003/11/24 10:09:52 dwalters Exp $ -- Open Automaton Project: http://oap.sourceforge.net -- I2C PARALLEL PORT INTERFACE MODULE ---------------------------------- This README covers the circuit schematic for the Open Automaton Project Parallel Port Interface Module. The Parallel Port Interface Module is a hardware device that connects to the parallel port of the mainboard. It provides an I2C master port that can be used to connect to the other OAP I2C modules, in situations when there's no I2C header available on the mainboard. This module is not required, therefore, on mainboards such as the VIA EPIA M, which has its own dedicated I2C interface that's supported by the Linux kernel. This circuit was designed specifically to work with the I2C Linux kernel driver i2c-philips-par, by Simon G. Vogl. An external 5V power supply (5mA) is required for this circuit. The circuit schematic (input_module.sch) was developed in gschem, part of the gEDA package, version 20030525.
